Volunteer Spotlight: Sarah Morden

Behind every successful event is a team of dedicated volunteers, and Sarah Morden was an essential part of the 2025 Golf Classic. As a member of the Golf Classic Committee, Sarah contributed her time, ideas, and enthusiasm long before the first tee-off at FireRock Golf Club. We spoke with Sarah about what motivated her to get involved, what being part of the Merrymount community means to her, and the moment that made the event so memorable.

How long have you been on the Merrymount golf committee?

I've been part of the committee for three years now.

What inspired you to get involved with Merrymount? How did you first join the golf committee?

A friend reached out about joining the committee that supported an incredible organization doing important work in our community. Between the cause and the chance to plan a great event, it felt like an easy yes and I’m so glad I did.

What’s something you’ve learned through volunteering?

That small contributions, whether time, energy, or even creative ideas, can have a big ripple effect.

Is there a moment from your volunteer work that’s really stuck with you?

Every year, seeing the event come together and knowing it directly supports families and kids.  There’s something special about watching a fun day on the course turn into real impact.

What does being part of the Merrymount community mean to you?

There’s a real sense of purpose and a lot of heart in everything Merrymount does, and it’s a privilege to be part of that.

What would you say to someone considering volunteering?

Say yes! It’s not just about giving back.  It’s about connecting with great people, learning new things, and being part of something that actually makes a difference.
