Board Spotlight: Melanie Morgan, President
This fall, Melanie Morgan begins her term as President of Merrymount’s Board of Directors after nearly two years of service on the Board. Her commitment to Merrymount is rooted in a desire to give back to the youngest members of our community and a belief in the difference timely, accessible support can make for children and families.
We spoke with Melanie about what drew her to Merrymount, what resonates with her about its work, her hopes for the organization’s continued impact in the community and, on a lighter note, her love of theatre.
What inspired you to join the Merrymount Board of Directors?
I wanted to give back to the youngest members of our community. I’ve seen firsthand the many ways Merrymount supports children and families, and I wanted to be part of an organization making such a meaningful difference.
What part of Merrymount's mission resonates with you most?
Helping children and families navigate through and beyond crisis to build stronger, healthier families. What resonates with me is the belief that when families receive the right support during difficult times, it can change the trajectory for a child and for the whole family. Merrymount creates a safe, supportive environment where children can feel valued and families can find the strength and tools to move forward.
What impact do you hope Merrymount continues to have in our community?
I hope Merrymount continues to be there for families when they are at their most vulnerable, providing support, hope and a path forward when they need it most.
What is one thing you wish more people knew about Merrymount?
I wish more people knew how accessible Merrymount is. Families can reach out directly for support, there does not have to be a complicated referral process, and Merrymount is there for families across London and surrounding communities when they need help
What is a fun fact, hobby, or personal interest you'd like to share?
I love theatre! I see about 10–15 plays a year and am always looking forward to my next show.
